School of Labour Studies Fall 2026 Speaker Series

The McMaster University School of Labour Studies invites students, workers, community members, and the broader public to join us for our Fall 2026 Speaker Series. This year’s series brings together three leading labour voices for timely conversations about union leadership, progressive politics, the resurgent right, and building collective power.

The series begins on Wednesday, October 7, with Judy Darcy, former National President of the Canadian Union of Public Employees, discussing her book, Leading from the Heart: The Battles of a Feminist, Union Leader and Politician. The event will take place from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Main Gallery of the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre, located at 51 Stuart Street in Hamilton. Register for Judy Darcy: Leading from the Heart.

On Tuesday, November 10, independent labour researcher and writer Miriam Edelson will be joined by contributors to Confronting the Resurgent Right. The discussion will take place from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Room 1003 of L.R. Wilson Hall at McMaster University.

The series concludes on Wednesday, November 25, with labour educator, organizer, and writer Cole Rockarts presenting Fired Up About Unions. The event will run from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. in the Main Gallery of the Workers Arts and Heritage Centre.

All are welcome. Registration details for the November events will be announced soon.
